Exclusive interview with Sanhita Baruah

Sanhita Baruah receives the Global 50 Glory Award 2021 for achievement in Creative Writing. She has released three books of poetry and is working on releasing her fourth book of poetry titled Between Us in paperback. Here’s an exclusive interview with Sanhita Baruah:

Please tell us a bit about yourself.

I am a Marketing and Strategy Professional having pursued my MBA from MDI Gurgaon in 2017. I have released three books of poetry, The Art of Letting Go being the most popular one, and have contributed short stories to multiple anthologies like Curtain Call and Life Reloaded.

What were the challenges that you faced initially and how did you overcome them?

I released my third book of poetry The Art of Healing in 2020. Usually, self-help and spiritual books are voluminous and contain narratives from the author. My book contains key concepts of self-help and spiritual healing. However, I wanted to make it a short and simple read so that the same concepts can be absorbed by all-the young and the old, the regular readers and the non-readers. One of the key challenges in bringing this book was to simplify the concepts of self-help and self-healing into three concise chapters and put them out in a poetic form that anyone can read to feel calm yet empowered.

What has been your most significant achievement?

The Art of Letting Go is often seen in the bestsellers’ list on Amazon in the poetry category ever since its launch in 2018. This book has slowly but surely reached out to readers who have appreciated the work and have found comfort in it. My most significant achievement is the genuine love my words have received from the readers in the form of social media messages and emails.

How do you come up with new ideas?

There are times when no ideas come even if I want to write something new and then there are days when I observe my surroundings and ideas come to me. I get writing ideas both on an extremely busy day or an idle day, and when I get them I am quick to jot them down.

    Who is your biggest inspiration?

I seek inspiration from most people I meet. Having said that, I often dream of becoming someone like Richard Bach who wrote short books with deep philosophical concepts simplified for the readers and is hardly seen on social media. I, on the other hand, spend too much time on social media.

    What motivates you?

I believe in human kindness and every time I experience little acts of kindness it reinstates my faith in the fact that all people are inherently good. This motivates me to stick to my moral compass and keep going.

What does a typical day look like for you?

My mornings begin with a cup of tea to drink and a few pages from a book to read before I start my day at work. In the evenings I go for a little walk before coming back home for dinner. I mostly read again before sleeping and occasionally I watch a movie or series. I chose to not keep a TV at home. 😊

Who do you look toward for advice?

I seek advice from the books I read and the people I meet. Most of my discussions with family and friends become philosophical enough to exchange views and advice. At my workplace, I look upto my colleagues who give me sound counsel.

    How do you define success?

Success for me is a life with more smiles and fewer worries. If you can go to sleep at night without carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders, you are successful. If you have time to take care of yourself and your loved ones. you are successful. If you are free to make decisions based on your priorities, you are successful.

What are your growth plans for the next 12 months?

I haven’t really planned anything beyond the next one month. Having said that, my publishing house has reached out to me to release my fourth book of poetry titled Between Us in paperback which was earlier only available in the e-book format. A lot of work is being done by the editor currently and I am eagerly waiting for it to be available for purchase.
