The UK Government Considers Stripping Harry and Meghan’s Royal Titles

Amidst the ongoing feud between Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and the royal family, there is speculation that the UK government might resort to the “nuclear option” by introducing legislation to strip the Duke and Duchess of Sussex of their royal titles. Conservative MP Bob Seely plans to present a bill in Parliament for this purpose, expressing concerns about the couple’s recent conflicts with the royal family.

Seely emphasises that while he supports the monarchy, the option to remove titles should be considered if individuals actively tarnish the institution’s image. His proposed legislation aims to respect the decision of those who no longer wish to be royal but suggests that they should forfeit titles and privileges if they undermine a crucial aspect of the nation’s heritage.

The controversy intensifies as Omid Scobie’s new book, “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival,” names two royals as “racist.” The book’s Dutch edition led to its removal from shelves in the Netherlands, with Piers Morgan further amplifying the situation by disclosing the names on his Talk TV show and social media.

The revelation prompted “utter dismay” at Buckingham Palace, with the royal family reportedly exploring all options, including potential legal action. The book is set to return to shelves on December 8 after its brief removal.

In the midst of this turmoil, a source close to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry has conveyed their “dismay” regarding the racial controversy sparked by the book. This follows Meghan’s earlier revelation during an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, where she disclosed that a family member had made concerning comments about the potential darkness of Archie’s skin before his birth in May 2019. As the tension escalates, the potential stripping of royal titles becomes a focal point in the broader narrative of the Sussexes’ strained relationship with the royal family.
